Section A - Road Signs

Section A of the KPP theory exam tests whether you can recognise Malaysian road signs, traffic light sequences and road markings. In the current computerised exam, 21 of the 70 questions come from this section — so a strong Section A score gives you a big head start toward the 80% passing mark.

Malaysian road signs follow clear visual families, and most questions can be answered from shape and colour alone: yellow diamond signs warn of danger ahead (curves, junctions, crossings), circular signs with a red border prohibit an action (no entry, no U-turn, speed limits), blue circular signs give mandatory instructions (keep left, turn ahead), and rectangular signs provide information or directions. On top of signs, expect questions on road line markings — solid versus broken centre lines, double lines, yellow boxes and zigzag lines — and on traffic light sequences, including arrow signals.

The most effective way to study is to master the sign families first, then drill the commonly confused pairs: curve versus winding road, T-junction versus crossroads, level crossing with and without gates, and the different "no stopping" and "no waiting" rules. Each practice set below shows you the correct answer immediately, so you learn while you test.
